About Proton Settings on the Steam Deck
Proton is the software that ensures compatibility between Valve Corporation's Steam Deck game console and Windows. As there are multiple versions of Proton, the game may not operate as intended depending on the version in use.
We have verified that the Steam version of "Butterfly's Poison; Blood Chains" runs smoothly on the latest version of Proton (8.0-2) as of June 14th, 2023, but you may experience irregular performance such as frame stuttering when playing video files on the older version (Proton 7).
We encourage everyone who wishes to play on a Steam Deck to follow the instructions below to check and/or change your version of Proton.

1) How to check the version of Proton
On your Steam Deck, start "Butterfly's Poison; Blood Chains," and then go to the "System" page in the "Options" (configuration) screen.
Your current version of Proton will be displayed on the bottom left. If your version does not read "Proton 8.0", we recommend you change the version by following the steps below.

2) How to change your version of Proton
Please do the following on your Steam Deck.
1:
Select "Butterfly's Poison; Blood Chains" from your Library.
2:
Select the "Gear" icon.
3:
Select "Properties..."
4:
Go to "Compatibility" and check the box next to "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool." A drop-down menu should appear below.
5:
Select "Proton 8.0-2" from the drop-down menu.
With that, your version of Proton will be changed.
If you go back to the "Library," start "Butterfly's Poison; Blood Chains," and see "Proton 8.0" written on the bottom left of the "System" page of the "Options" (configuration) screen, you will be all set to enjoy the game!
 Precautions When Connecting Controllers
As well as the Steam Controller, this game is also compatible with the following game console controllers:
 ・Xbox Controller
 ・PS5 DualSense Controller
 ・PS4 DUALSHOCK Controller
 ・Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
By playing this game on your PC with one of these controllers via USB, not only can you use your controller to advance text normally, you can also skip text, rewind, and switch languages, among other functions. This way, you can experience the game as if you were playing on a home video game console.

Due to the design of the Windows OS, your controller may be set as the PC's sound output device when it is connected.
(Sound will no longer play from your speakers, etc.).
If your controller has a headphone jack, you will be able to listen to the game via your controller, but if you would rather continue listening through the same device as before, please click on the speaker icon in the taskbar, then select the appropriate sound output device.
